We took this opportunity to get to know Kalie a little better and find out some of her thoughts on the event industry and working with Signature Marketing:

1. What advice would you give other brand ambassadors on how to run a successful promotion?

The best advice I could give is to know the product. Know who makes it or where it’s from, the price point, what is in it, what you can mix with it and some fun facts. This shows the customer that this brand is serious about the distribution of their product!

2. What can a client provide for a promotion that helps you get customers excited about and interacting with the   brand?

Games are fun! Tshirts are always a winner for customers. Neon products would be fun too as neon is in right now and an easy attention grabber!

3. What is the best thing about working for Signature Marketing?

The best part about working for Signature Marketing is the consistency in event selection. Every month there are more opportunities to choose more exciting events!

Neva Johnson- Waukegan, IL

SMI is pleased to recognize Neva Johnson as our July Talent of the Month. Neva is a sensational brand ambassador and was chosen for her ability to authentically represent a wide spectrum of brands with enthusiasm and professionalism. In addition to running a memorable and effective event, Neva prides herself on timely and detailed reporting, submission of excellent event photos, and terrific audit results.

We took this opportunity to get to know Neva a little better and find out some of her thoughts on the event industry and working with Signature Marketing:

1. How did you enter the event marketing industry?

I initially entered the event marketing industry as a cocktail waitress and event host at Revelation’s nightclub in Country Club Hills, Illinois. There I was scouted by the portfolio manager of Moet Hennessy USA.  Nine months later I was working as a spokes model for Moet Hennessy. You can pretty much say things have been going up from there. I applied to over 50 different marketing companies (alcohol, wine&spirits, clothing, food, beverage, etc.) I was curious and eager to learn as much as possible as quick as possible to perfect my craft as an independent marketing professional.

2. What advice would you give other brand ambassadors on how to run a successful promotion?

My advice to a fellow brand ambassador to run a successful promotion would definitely be, first and foremost, to be polite and professional at all times. Arrive 15-30 minutes prior to event start time. Upon site arrival be very outgoing. From the moment you walk in the door you own the room. Come dressed to impress! (hair, nails,  and clothing styled nicely/neatly.) Greet all consumers as you make your way to the account manager. Introduce yourself to him or her as well. Give them a brief overview of exactly what you will be doing (promoting) that day. Inform them if there’s anything needed of them, whether your going to pay for product before or after promotion, etc. Build a pleasant relationship because more than likely they will request you again or set up another event to be executed based on the prior model’s performance. Throughout promotion wash hands and clean as needed; you want you and your display to look and stay as appealing as possible. Also keep in mind that the purpose of the tasting is not just for consumers to sample new products but to SELL, SELL, SELL! The more you sell, the happier the account manager will be which in turn gives a pleasant report to the clients/distributors, which in turn results in more work you! Don’t just do a “good” job, aim every time to leave a “great” mark.

3. What can a client provide for a promotion that helps you get customers excited about and interacting with the   brand?

Clients can provide additional POS!!! I can’t stress enough how much this helps! Consumers love bargains or any additional incentives. If you’re in between closing a purchase a little POS can make the sale. Some consumers will go with a lesser quality product just because it’s cheaper, has a rebate, or you get something free/ extra with the purchase of that particular brand/product. This has happened to me on numerous occasions.

4. What is the best thing about working for Signature Marketing?

What I love most about working with Signature Marketing is the close relationship I feel I have with the company staff. They make me feel important; as though I actually serve a purpose and make a difference in the company. Some companies are so huge the managers and supervisors don’t know more than half of the staff by name or face. In fact they’re often identified by number. Here I feel at home; the staff here is very friendly, understanding and professional. I couldn’t ask for a better employment relationship. Thank you all for continued support.

5. What was the most fun promotion you’ve ever worked?

The most fun promotion I’ve ever worked would have to be the Famous Footwear Grand Opening Event in Lincolnwood, Illinois.. I was orignally scheduled as a back up for the event. During the training call I was promoted to an official brand ambassador for the promotion. Two and a half hours into the event  I was asked if I’d felt comfortable hosting the event as the official emcee because they loved my look and energy. So not only did I get to be a part of a very fun and exciting event, I also got a chance to do what I do best and “be myself” on the mic. Of course I rocked out! The company loved me and I received a bonus on my paycheck. I’ve been working consistently with the company every since. Goes to show you never know what can happen, when it can happen or who’s watching. You have to be ready if you want it!

Diana Robayo – Alhambra, CA

SMI is pleased to recognize Diana Robayo as our March Talent of the Month. Diana is a new addition to our brand ambassador sales team in California, and she has already caught our attention! Diana is a pleasure to work with; she has excellent communication skills, thoroughly prepares for her events and promotions, has high sales ability, and immediately completes her post-event reporting. Diana was quick to show off her ability to sell product and won sales awards for two of her first three weekends working on our Serta campaign. We look forward to working with Diana in the future!

We took this opportunity to get to know Diana a little better and find out some of her thoughts on the event industry and working with Signature Marketing:

1. What advice would you give other brand ambassadors on how to run a successful promotion?

The best advice I could give other brand ambassadors for future events would be to maintain a positive attitude, ask questions, and be a team player.  Maintaining a positive attitude is important because it makes the event more enjoyable for everyone.  Brand ambassadors can feed off of each others energy to provide a fulfilling and fun environment.  By having a bad attitude, it will only make the job responsibilities seem much more difficult.  Asking questions allows for effective communication.  Some people are afraid to ask questions about clarifying info, but it will help you become better prepared to fulfill your job duties.  Also, a team player gives everyone the chance to practice cohesion and in the end the outcome of the event will be more successful.  Once you help your team, they are more willing to do the same for you.

2. What is the best thing about working for Signature Marketing?

Since this is my first event with Signature Marketing, my experience was solely based on the process of getting hired, being booked, and working my first event promoting Serta.  The communication with this company is excellent and Amanda Rankin was my point of contact for the Serta events.  I had many questions that I was bombarding Amanda about and she was quick to respond to the emails I sent to her.  My only issue of waiting on my debit card was resolved in a timely manner, and I greatly appreciate that help.  There was never a pay discrepancy nor was the pay delayed in any way, since I did follow directions.  Finally, I highly recommend this company to anyone because I feel they are organized and provide the information and training necessary, in order to feel confident in performing the assigned tasks.  Thanks again for a wonderful first experience with Signature Marketing and I hope to work with this company in the future.  Thanks to Amanda as well!!!

3. What can a client provide for a promotion that helps you get customers excited about and interacting with the   brand?

The client can provide visual materials, such as brochures and flyers, engage the consumers about the product at hand.  Some people may be willing to listen to verbal communication of a product, while others pay more attention to tangible items.  Also, consumers are easily distracted and tend to focus on the event if premiums are being distributed.  It could be a small, inexpensive item such as a keychain or sticker, and people tend to be more interested in the product.

SMI is pleased to recognize Madeleine Andrews as our February Talent of the Month. Madeleine works as a model talent brand ambassador and liquor spokesmodel, and has been very important in assisting the launch of a new campaign in the Boston area.  She has impressed our management team with her willingness to go out of her way to work frequently and execute memorable events.  Madeleine always has a smile on her face, and is a wonderful, positive member of our team!

We took this opportunity to get to know Madeleine a little better and find out some of her thoughts on the event industry and working with Signature Marketing:

1. What advice would you give other brand ambassadors on how to run a successful promotion?

For me, it’s all about being genuine– you’re not fooling anyone with a fake smile. Act with sincere positivity and customers will respond. They’re more likely to let their guard down, relax, play the games and leave with a pleasant memory of the brand.

2. What is the best thing about working for Signature Marketing?

Everything! This is the only part time job I’ve ever had that I actually look forward to going to, enjoy being at, and leave with a smile on my face.

3. What was the most fun promotion you’ve ever worked?

I love working the Malibu promotions on Thursdays at Pour House. It’s always such a fun, positive environment. It’s a great feeling to see hard-working, vitamin-D lacking Bostonians awarded trips to tropical locations after playing games like freeze-dance and flip-cup. Often the whole bar gets involved cheering for contestants and it’s nice, it’s a feeling of togetherness I don’t see often enough in this town.

Michelle has worked steadily as a model talent beer and liquor spokesmodel on our Absolut, Olmeca, Kahlua, Malibu, Corona and Sam Adams campaigns. She has also worked as a Casted Talent Brand Ambassador on street-team events and in-store retail samplings and demonstrations. Michelle is reliable, outgoing and always has a smile on her face. We took this opportunity to get to know Michelle a little better and find out some of her thoughts on the event industry and working with Signature Marketing:

1. What advice would you give other brand ambassadors on how to run a successful promotion?

The best advice for working a successful promotion is to enjoy what you do. Remember you are a brand and the face to the product. Consumers rely on you to provide feedback and information on the product. Always be open minded as consumers will have their own opinions and remarks, most importantly remember to have fun and smile.

2. What is the best thing about working for Signature Marketing?

Where to start with this question … Signature Marketing is always a pleasure to work for. The employees go out of their way to make sure you feel comfortable completing their events. It’s not often that you see the face of the company work side by side with staff, which is always a plus. If you’re ever in need of information, Signature is always there to answer any questions even after hours. Payments for Signature are always on time and correct, no need to wait a month to get reimbursed. To be honest, Signature Marketing has and will continue to be my favorite Marketing Company.

3. What was the most fun promotion you’ve ever worked?

I had the privilege of working the release event for the  playstation game “Just Dance”. Not only did I launch the program, I got to dance with consumers all day, everyday. I taught consumers dance moves which was a fun workout as you dance nonstop to beat your competitor. I had a blast making up dance moves and seeing adults act like children. Not only was it a great launch, it was a fun and enjoyable event.

Tyler Mose – Chicago, IL

SMI is pleased to recognize Tyler Mose as our November Talent of the Month. Tyler has worked on our Shecky’s Girls Night Out Program, our Cointreau program, and our ComEd Community Outreach programs at Brookfield and Lincoln Park Zoos.  Tyler is always eager to jump in on any program and execute with professionalism, attention to detail, and a great attitude! Tyler was integral in obtaining a new client, Cointreau, by impressing them with his presentation skills at a “Girls Night Out” event.  Thank you so much for all of your hard work Tyler! We took this opportunity to get to know Tyler a little better and find out some of his thoughts on the event industry and working with Signature Marketing:

1. How did you enter the event marketing industry?

I entered the marketing industry about 5 years ago with what was then the professional lacrosse team of Chicago (Chicago Machine). Our means of marketing the team were hitting the streets with gear/ promotional give aways and spreading the word on the team. This was a grass roots marketing campaign at its finest! It was a great way to explore the city as a newbie to Chicago and understand consumers at face value and how quickly you must engage them!

2. What advice would you give other brand ambassadors on how to run a successful promotion?

-Don’t over sell! You need to engage each potential buyer as a human being. They’re ready for a sales pitch as soon as they see you. Trust me! I’ve seen the would be buyer shy away very quickly as soon as they see someone with free product.

Be yourself, act like you don’t need the business, engage them and let them decide for themselves. If there is a special going on be sure to mention this! Consumers are much more apt to buy when there is some type of deal.

Also, always remember to give away the free swag or items that you have. Consumers are much more apt to purchase after you have given them something for free. They feel a certain obligation or need to buy! Think of it from your personal perspective of when someone does something nice for you. You are much more likely to do something for them in the future. The same goes with the free giveaways! These are in essence seeds that you are planting in the consumers minds just by giving away something that you have a plethora of!

3. What is the best thing about working for Signature Marketing?

The best thing about Signature is that it is a very well run company. By well run, I mean that assignments are delivered in a timely manner, payment is distributed on time – ALWAYS – and the events are fun! I’ve been more than lucky and happy to have run across Signature Marketing and been even more lucky that they have continued to let me represent and work for them at various functions! Management is very easy going and easy to work with scheduling wise. If you are loyal to Signature Marketing, they definitely hold up their end of the bargain and continue to provide you work!

Anais Navarro – Chicago, IL

SMI is pleased to recognize Anais Navarro as our October Talent of the Month. Anais represents Jameson Irish Whiskey and Olmeca Altos for Signature Marketing. She is constantly complimented on her professionalism, product knowledge, and enthusiasm. Anais has impressed us with her sales ability, quick and thorough reporting, and fantastic event photos. We took this opportunity to get to know Anais a little better and find out some of her thoughts on the event industry and working with Signature Marketing:

1. How did you enter the event marketing industry?

I entered the event marketing industry through Signature Marketing. I actually found a post on Craigslist and replied but didn’t really expect an answer since I had no prior experience. I only had history as a sales associate at a footwear store and a lot of experience with customer service so thought I’d take a chance and a year later here I am :)

2. What advice would you give other brand ambassadors on how to run a successful promotion?

The only advice I can pass is to always stay positive and with a smile. Stay busy and proactive. Engage the crowd/customers as much as possible,  be fun yet professional and be ready to answer any questions on the product that might be asked. So do the research prior to the event!

3. What is the best thing about working for Signature Marketing?

I love working with Signature Marketing. The flexibility this company provides to my schedule works perfect for me.

4. What can a client provide for a promotion that helps you get customers excited about and interacting with the brand?

Customers seem to really enjoy the giveaways, so having them at every tasting should be a must. Adding raffles would also work, in my opinion, to win maybe a bottle of the product and to collect customer information to further promote later events and or specials.

Kristina Ethier – Chicago, IL

SMI is pleased to recognize Kristina Ethier as our September Talent of the Month. Kristina got herself noticed this year by working our kick-off Frolicat event and selling over 300 units! Kristina also represents Absolut and Jameson Irish Whiskey for Signature Marketing. We took this opportunity to get to know Kristina a little better and find out some of her thoughts on the event industry and working with Signature Marketing:

1. What advice would you give other brand ambassadors on how to run a successful promotion?

Advice I would give other brand ambassadors on how to run a successful promotion is to know what you’re promoting.  Signature provides a vast amount of informative materials beforehand, and if you use that information, you will be more confident when you are asked questions by the consumers.  Additionally, being knowledgeable about the product will help you increase sales and the success of your promotion.

2. What is the best thing about working for Signature Marketing?

The best thing about working for Signature Marketing is the variety in the work you get to do.  You get to meet all kinds of different people and work in interesting environments.

3. What was the most exciting promotion that you’ve worked?

The most fun promotion I ever worked was the Wine, Beer and Cigar Festival in Libertyville, IL.  It was a beautiful end of Summer day at an outdoor event.  I worked a booth for Bard’s Beer which is a craft gluten-free beer.  It was very enjoyable because on one side of me I had reps from 312 and the other side I had people from Beer Connoisseur Magazine; so when I wasn’t engaging with consumers I was able to talk to them and learn more about them.  Plus, for the people that were gluten sensitive, it was so great showing them that they can drink beer again!  Also, some people tried it just because they could and really liked it, or were impressed by the fact that it was gluten free.  Finally, I received meal tickets so I was able to try some of the local fare, and had an excellent “garbage” salad for dinner and also had the opportunity to try a few tasty organic things.  Overall, I didn’t feel like I was working, because it was such an inviting environment.  I was there for five and a half hours and the time just flew by!
