COVID-19 has put the event industry on pause, and we know that you’re missing working your favorite events as a brand ambassador. Promotions and Sampling Events will come back soon, and so will tons of eager brand ambassadors wanting to work. Use this time to improve your resume and your brand ambassador skills, and be ready to stand out from the crowd and get the best possible bookings! Below are our top five tips and resources.
1. Update your headshot with high quality images and video.
To stand out from the crowd, you need photos that reflect your look and personality! You can either take these photos yourself or have someone else take them for you. Make sure that you use great lighting and wear makeup that represents the real you. Don’t use filters on your images. Consider shooting a short video that shows off how well you can speak to a potential customer! Find some great tips on shooting your own headshot here.
2. Improve your marketing and sales knowledge and skills.
Events happen because a brand is trying to market or sell their product. The more you understand about sales and marketing, the more valuable you are as a brand ambassador. There are so many free courses available online for you to take advantage of, on sites like Hubspot and LinkedIn. You can even take free classes in marketing and business from Ivy-League schools online through Coursera. Sharpen up your brand ambassador skills and you’ll see the impact on how much you sell at your next event!
3. Leverage your social media.
Before agencies hire you as a brand ambassador, they want to see what you can do! They want to see how you represent a company both by the way you appear and the way you interact with potential customers. Take pictures at events and share them on your social media, so staffing coordinators can see just how passionate and fun you are! You can even try doing this digitally, by sharing some of your favorite brands and your own testimonies with your followers, which could open doors for you to work digitally as a virtual ambassador.
4. Let your agencies know of your additional skill sets.
Update your agency profiles and let your agencies know of any additional skills sets that may be useful during this time. Skills like retail or merchandising experience, digital marketing know-how, photography and videography talents, and acting experience are especially needed. Speak up and look for opportunities. You could be a great resource for your agency’s team!
5. Improve your photography and videography skills.
Capturing great photo and video is critical to running a great event and getting better bookings. Now is the time to improve your skills and create some high-quality examples of what you can do. Adobe offers a ton of great free resources for photography, videography, and editing. This website also has great resources for learning to shoot better photos on your iPhone!
